Hello there! I'm just back from a fantastic food styling/food photography workshop that was organised by Kristin from Dinner du Jour - I picked up so many amazing tips from food stylist extraordinaire, Sharon Hearne Smith, and food blogger/food writer/all round nice guy Donal Skehan.
There were around 20 food bloggers there and it was great to catch up with people I hadn't seen in a while and meet some new faces. We're all meeting in a few hours for a meal at L Mulligan Grocer, and I have a feeling it'll be a late night!
I'll fill you in on all the tips I picked up during the day on tomorrow's post - but just wanted to let you know about a lovely meal I had in Yamamori restaurant in Dublin on Thursday night. I love Japanese food - it's so fresh and usually veggie friendly - so I was very excited to meet my friends Joanne, Kasia and Angela for a bite at Yamamori on George's St before a Popicalia! event.
Instead of getting a main course, I usually get two starters - ganmodoki and yasai gyoza. The ganmodoki are fried tofu patties made with shiitake and toasted pine nuts and served with a ginger shoyu dip, while the yasai gyoza are vegetable dumplings. I wasn't too sure about trying the ganmodoki but they were outstanding - the tofu was really 'meaty' and the ginger shoyu dip was just perfect. The starters come in extremely generous sizes, so along with a small bowl of rice I had a pretty substantial meal.
If you're at a restaurant and don't see a main course you like, why not have two starters? It can be easier than picking at a main course half heartedly. Plus, it's often lighter on your wallet - or if you're a bit of a glutton like me, it's a way of trying a few dishes without feeling stufffed.
Have a fantastic Saturday evening, whatever you're up to!

Wow, you win the award for first post about the workshop - can't believe you fit it in between the class and the dinner!
That's such a great idea for a work shop! And your dinner looks amazing :)
